In order to allow the birch, Japanese maple, other deciduous trees and the Japanese red pine to thrive, we've been busy cutting down the larches and ezo pines that clutter up the property with dead branches and block out the sunlight. A number of forestry and landscaping folks have been encouraging us to do so, and although it has been a lot of hard work it is really paying off now that the fall colours have arrived. It truly warms the heart to see the local grannies and grandpas picking mushrooms under the autumn leaves on the ACC property. We hope a lot of church folks will also take the opportunity to enjoy mushroom picking here this season.
